At Duke University, we have access to a variety of poles and will find the right fit for each athlete. With a smooth progression of poles from beginner level to elite, we are sure to provide our athletes with the necessary equipment to reach their goals.

Pole Rental Program

Meet-Only Rentals

Athlete uses poles at meets and returns them the same day or next practice session.

Pricing

(up to 3 poles, each additional pole after 3 adds $10 to price)

  • $30 for 1 meet
  • $75 for 3 meets
  • $200 for unlimited meets (per season, indoor/outdoor are separate)

Seasonal Take-Home Rental

Athlete keeps the poles all season for meets and other practices. Rentals for indoor and outdoor are treated as separate seasons for pricing purposes. Each athlete may rent up to 6 poles per season.

Pricing (per pole per season)

  • TIER 1—$250
    • 11’ 6” poles and under
  • TIER 2—$300
    • 12’ 1”-13’ 1” poles
  • TIER 3—$350
    • 13’ 7”-14’ 7” poles
  • TIER 4—$400
    • 15’ 1 poles and above
    • $150 refundable deposit—refunded when the pole comes back in good condition.

Insurance

  • $75 per season. Indoor and outdoor are treated as separate seasons for pricing purposes. Covers up to 3 poles—poles 4+ adds $10 per pole.
  • Flat $150 deductible for any break. If pole breaks at a meet, the athlete/family pays $150. If a pole breaks at practice, the club will cover the cost.
  • If no insurance, full replacement cost is expected at market value. Pole cost will be explicitly stated in the contract.

Contract Terms

Meet-Only

  • Poles must be returned at/before the next group session.
  • If not returned before the next group session, they are charged a daily late fee unless express permission given ($15/day).
  • Damage while in possession if it results in the pole’s retirement will be treated as a break.
  • Insurance only applies to breakage or irreparable damage, not theft or negligence. 

Take-Home

  • Athlete must store pole indoors or in a temperature-stable location
  • If using a roof rack for transport, must also have a protective tube to keep the poles safe.
  • Mandatory pole check on pick-up + drop-off from the LVAC facility.
  • Deposit returned within 5 days if condition is normal.

Replacement Values (without insurance)

  • 11’ → $480
  • 11’ 6” → $510
  • 12’ 1” → $655
  • 12’ 7” → $725
  • 13’ 1” → $750
  • 13’ 7” → $820
  • 14’ 1” → $890
